Teg, it was really nice to read your city recommendations. It’s so special you’ve actually seen so many great cities already, and you’re still so young. I know you don’t always have the easiest time at your internship, and I’m really proud that you are pushing through. At the end of the day it will be a very good learning experience.
Yesterday, I had the best evening! It was a really spontaneous experience, but those are usually the best. After Aerobics (working out!!) I called my best friend, Kim, and asked her if she wanted to have dinner with my family and I. We have known each other for as long as I can remember, and she has become an honorary Leebeek family member. We decided to go to this restaurant very close to my house. Gym & Gin is in the same building as a gym, and its motto is “It’s all about balance.” This speaks to me on a deeper level, since I work out a lot to compensate for my incredible love for pizza and Nutella.
Don’t let the outside of the restaurant fool you, the inside is really cool. I was so suprised, and immediately knew this would be one of my hotspots. We had a table for five, and even though it might have been a little crowded on the couch part of the table, it was also very cosy.
No matter how cute a restaurant is, in the end it is always about the food. Luckily, the food was absolutely amazing. I love raw fish, so the menu fitted my preferences perfectly. I started off with an appetizer, a tuna tartare, and it was as delicious as it was beautiful. As a main I had a sushi bowl with salmon, and avocado. I am still dreaming about it, it was so tasty. I also got fries on the side. I don’t know if this is weird, but I love fries, so who cares.
The food was pretty pricey (both dishes were around 13 euros) but definitely worth it. We had a really lovely evening and were unfortunately too full for a desert.
It was really nice to have a family reunion, and I hope to come back to this place very soon.
